MEIGS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE LOOKING FOR ESCAPED INMATE
MEIGS COUNTY, Tenn. — The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an escaped inmate.
Sheriff Jackie Melton says Dustin Cody Miller was in recreation time at the jail when he left Sunday afternoon. He was originally charged with stealing a truck back in May in Bradley County.
Authorities say shortly after the chase crossed the Meigs County line, Miller ditched the Nissan truck and stole a second truck, this time a Toyota, from a home on Center Point Road in Decatur.
A viewer captured video of the suspect going off-road right in front of him, with deputies in hot pursuit. The chase lasted for more than an hour. It came to an end at Old Highway 30 and North No Pone Valley Road in Decatur. Sheriff Melton says they are still looking for Miller.
The sheriff says he is not considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office.
