Michael Ray Birmley, 64
Michael Ray Birmley, age 64, of Kingston, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 19, 2026. He was born on June 30, 1962, in Rockwood, Tennessee. Michael was an avid book collector with a passion for learning. He especially enjoyed collecting Army books, cookbooks, gardening books, flower books, and DVDs. In his spare time, he could often be found watching classic Westerns on television or enjoying his extensive DVD collection. He also worked in landscape maintenance in Atlanta, Georgia until he moved back to Tennessee where he still continued his landscaping business. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Maxine Owings Birmley of Kingston; his sister, Michelle Renee Birmley of Knoxville; his special nephew, Dexter Birmley; uncles, Floyd Owings of Rockwood and Harold & Joe Owings, both of Kingston; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Baker of Harriman and Garland Edwards of Illinois. He also leaves behind several nieces & nephews, extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Birmley; his uncle, James Owings; his aunt, Evelyn Sue Ridge; and his grandparents, Gus and Bessie Owings and Ray and Jesse Birmley. Michael will be remembered for his quiet nature, his love of books, and the enjoyment he found in life’s simple pleasures. His memory will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
