MISSING TENNESSEE WOMAN FOUND SAFE, BOYFRIEND ARRESTED

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — The boyfriend of a Middle Tennessee woman — who had been missing and has since been found safe — has been arrested in California on an outstanding warrant.

Nikki Alcaraz, 33, was located and considered safe Tuesday evening by the Eureka Police Department in northern California.

Police say Alcaraz had been road tripping from Tennessee to California with her boyfriend, Steven Stratton. The pair had a reported domestic violence altercation in New Mexico on May 9. Investigating agencies released both Alcaraz and Stratton. But days later, they left the area and weren’t seen for a while, which led to a missing persons report on Alcaraz.

Alcaraz’s family tells FOX 17 News the couple has a history of domestic violence.

According to the Cheatham County District Attorney, Alcaraz was spotted at a Walmart in Redding, California on May 27. Then on May 29, the Eureka Police Department says there was a sighting of Alcaraz in the 100 block of 4th Street.

On Tuesday afternoon, Eureka Police say a citizen called officers to report they had seen the vehicle associated with Alcaraz and Stratton traveling south on Broadway. Police found the car with the pair inside.

Alcaraz said she was OK and didn’t need help.

Stratton was arrested for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on a theft-related offense. He was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and is expected to be extradited back to Tennessee.
