HAYDEN BERKEBILE HAS BEEN FOUND GUILTY

UPDATE The jury announced Hayden Berkebile has been found guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the death of Grace Anne Sparks

The trial of an Indiana man accused of encouraging a 19-year-old female to shoot herself so he could watch, began Monday in Knox County Criminal Court. The court ended Monday after choosing its jurors and is expected to enter opening arguments in the coming days.

Hayden Berkebile, 29, faces charges of criminally negligent homicide and false reports in the death of Grace Anne Sparks in September 2019.  Grace Anne shot herself with a .357 revolver on her bed in a West Hills apartment. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Officers responded to the apartment after Berkebile called 911. He told dispatchers he was speaking with Grace Anne on Facetime when she began to speak oddly.  According to the affidavit, it claims Berkebile was a “BDSM sexual master” who “exerted sexual control over the victim causing her to engage in dangerous and demeaning acts,” encouraging Sparks to kill herself for his “viewing pleasure.”

Knoxville police stated, “What could have very easily been closed as a suicide was investigated to the fullest and a true predator has been taken off the street.”
