HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK: A strong storm system will affect the area Tuesday and Wednesday. High winds with gusts above 50 mph are likely in and near the mountains early Tuesday morning through Tuesday afternoon. Also, locally heavy rainfall and isolated flooding will be possible, mainly south of Interstate 40. And finally, strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday into Tuesday evening, mainly in Southeast Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 63. South wind around 5 mph.

MONDAY NIGHT: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers after 3am. Low around 55. South wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

TUESDAY: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 9am. High near 63. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 52. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

WEDNESDAY: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9am, then a slight chance of showers between 9am and noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 57. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
