On November 21, 2025, Tennessee Highway Patrol arrested Joshua Ryan Woods of Madisonville on Sweetwater-Vonore Road in Monroe County for Driving Under the Influence. Woods was a 17-plus year veteran of law enforcement in Monroe County and was serving as a Court Services Deputy with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the incident.

On November 22, 2025, Mr. Woods was terminated from his position for violating Monroe County’s Sheriff’s General Orders-Section 1-Professional Conduct and Responsibility,

Since Mr. Woods has now been officially terminated, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing any additional updates regarding this matter. All further inquiries, as well as the arrest report, fall solely under the jurisdiction of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
