The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office would like to share violent crime statistics for 2024 compared to 2023. As shown in the charts below, Monroe County has seen a significant decrease in several categories of violent crime:

Murder has decreased by 77.78%

Non-Consensual sex offenses has decreased by 15.79%

Aggravated assaults have decreased by 30.09%

These statistics are provided by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), which collects and reports violent crime data for every county across the state.

Notably, these decreases come at a time when Monroe County’s population continues to grow, making these reductions even more meaningful.

In addition to the previously shared violent crime statistics, The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office would also like to highlight recent improvements in property crime trends.

In 2024, the total value of reported stolen property in Monroe County exceeded $3 million. In 2025, that figure was reduced to just over $1.7 million, reflecting a significant decrease in stolen property countywide.

Also of notable interest is the amount of stolen property recovered in 2025. As of December 30, 2025, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has recovered and returned more than $330,000 worth of stolen property to its rightful owners.

These numbers represent meaningful progress in protecting our community’s property and holding offenders accountable. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to reducing crime and continuing these positive trends as our county continues to grow.
