Around 2:30 pm on Sunday afternoon, Monterey police officers received a BOLO (Be On Look Out) for a runaway juvenile in a stolen Chevy Silverado.

Officers made contact with the vehicle approximately 15 minutes later in the area of N. Chestnut Street. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and took the driver, who was identified as the runaway juvenile into custody. The driver was also found to be heavily under the influence of alcohol while driving the truck and was transported to the juvenile detention center. The owner of the truck was contacted to retrieve his vehicle. It was reported that this truck may have also struck several mailboxes somewhere in the area and had significant damage to the passenger side.
