MORE THAN 31 TONS OF RAW BEEF BEING RECALLED FOR E. COLI CONCERNS

It’s just what you didn’t want to hear as you get ready to fire up the grill for your Memorial Day cookout.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a recall for more than 62,000 pounds of raw beef products, citing E. coli concerns.

The meat was packaged at the Aurora Packing Company, Inc. in North Aurora, Illinois, on April 19; it was shipped nationwide for distribution.

The USDA’s announcement specifies the recalled products bear the establishment number “EST. 788” within the USDA inspection mark.

The recall encompasses more than 40 different products, most of which are various cuts of steak, including ribeye, as well as brisket cuts and ribs.

Don’t forget to check beef items stored away in your freezer.

The possible contamination was discovered after a random sampling; the USDA stresses there have been no reported cases of illness related to this recall.
