MOTHER AND FATHER OF INFANT ARRESTED FOR CHILD ABUSE IN PUTNAM COUNTY

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the parents of a five-month-old infant for child abuse. Officers say 26-year-old Dulaney Collums of Houston, Mississippi and 31-year-old Kayla Crowe of Monterey, Tennessee have been arrested for 3 counts of aggravated child abuse.

Investigators learned a concerned family member took the child to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital for injuries. The baby’s guardian had been out of town and had left the baby in the care of the mother and father. When the guardian returned the baby had visible injuries that necessitated a trip to the hospital. The guardian was unable to secure custody of the child when she moved out of state earlier this year.

The baby was taken to Cookeville Regional Medical Center for additional medical treatment. The child had numerous severe injuries that were reported. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division was notified and immediately began investigating Collums and Crowe.

Collums’ bond was set at $175,000 and he is being held for Mississippi. Crowe’s bond was set at $100,000.
