MOTORCYCLIST IN SEVIER COUNTY DIES AFTER HITTING TURKEY IN ROADWAY

A 54-year-old Tennessee man died in Sevier County after losing control of his motorcycle when he struck a turkey in the roadway. The incident occurred at 11:48 a.m. Friday on Dripping Springs Road in the 2000 block, as the man was traveling north and navigating a curve. He was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a utility pole.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, the rider was wearing a helmet. The crash is unrelated to other recent motorcycle incidents in the state, including a fatal accident on Clinton Highway on Saturday and another crash that led to a teenager requiring amputation of both feet.
