MOTORCYCLIST WITH TRAUMATIC INJURIES AFTER CRASHING INTO PUTNAM COUNTY AMBULANCE
At approximately 4:15 pm Sunday, a Putnam County EMS unit was traveling east bound on I- 40 returning to their station after dropping a patient off at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Preliminary reports show that at approximately mile marker 295.4, the ambulance was struck from behind by a single occupant on a motorcycle. The ambulance was traveling non- emergency and not currently transporting a patient at the time of the accident. The ambulance crew was uninjured and immediately began providing care to the motorcycle driver. Another ambulance was dispatched to the scene for further care of the patient. Following an assessment, the driver of the motorcycle was found to have traumatic injuries. A single patient was flown to UT Medical Center by LifeStar for further treatment of injuries.
