A single vehicle accident late this morning on I-40 in Putnam County resulted in a citizen from Monterey being transported to the hospital. Troopers say a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by 63-year-old Randell Bale was traveling east at the 293 mile marker. A sudden blowout of the left rear tire sent the truck off the roadway striking a rock embankment. The automobile came to rest on the driver’s side. Bale was restrained at the time of impact and treated for minor injuries. Eastbound traffic was backed up for over an hour as a result of the crash.
