MULTI-VEHICLE WRECK AND DOWNED TREE ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
On December 18, 2025, Interstate 40 westbound in Cumberland County has two significant disruptions reported by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Earlier in the afternoon, at approximately 2:34 PM Central Time, a tree fell onto the roadway near mile marker 330, blocking the right lane out of the two westbound lanes as well as the right shoulder.
Less than an hour later, at 3:06 PM, a multi-vehicle crash occurred just one mile further along at mile marker 331, resulting in the blockage of the westbound right shoulder.
While details on the number of vehicles involved, causes, or any injuries remain limited in official reports, motorists in this section of I-40 are advised to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and seek detours through the Westel area as THP troopers manage the scene and work to restore full traffic flow.
