NEW YEAR’S DAY PARTY YIELDS NUMEROUS UNDER-AGE DRINKERS

Morgan County Authorities broke up a large New Year’s Day party, that included several juveniles. Anderson County Dispatch transferred an anonymous call reporting a large number of teens drinking at a remote party in a Community near Oliver Springs known as “The Cove.” Sheriff Wayne Potter and multiple deputies arrived at 1061 Cove Lane, where 15-20 people reportedly ran into the woods. Another 25-30 were found in an open structure on the property. Numerous containers of alcohol were found. A 14-year old girl was found unconscious and a 16-year-old male was discovered in physical distress. They were taken to the hospital. Over the next few hours, 30 individuals were rounded up including more than 15 juveniles, and taken into the sheriff’s office to be interviewed. The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be filed within the next few days. Several area agencies assisted in the incident.
