A newborn baby and a 15-month-old child were transferred to Children’s Hospital after their mother found them in the bathtub at a Seymour home.

Officials said the Seymour Fire Department and Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Green Fern Trail in Seymour around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after originally receiving a call about a possible drowning.

When first responders arrived on the scene, officials say, the mother had already removed both children from the tub.

Investigators say the children were taken in separate ambulances and were last listed in critical condition.

Neighbors said the family who lives in the house are renters who recently moved in.
