NEXT PHASE OF BULL RUN DEMOLITION TO START SATURDAY

From the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office:
As part of TVA’s ongoing decommissioning efforts at the retired Bull Run plant, the next phase of work is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025, with safe implosions planned at sunrise and again around midday to bring down two tall stacks and parts of the plant structure.
For everyone’s safety, only authorized personnel will be allowed on or near the Bull Run Plant site. There will be no public access to TVA property, including parts of the Clinch River and the airspace above. Drones and aircraft are strictly prohibited. Claxton Community Park and Ballfields will close beginning at 5 PM on Friday, June 27. Law enforcement will close SR 170 between Melton Lake Drive and Old Emory Road for about 30 minutes during each implosion.
Nearby residents should expect brief bursts of loud noise when the structures come down. Please be mindful of pets and people that may be startled by the noise.
Although TVA will use proven engineering controls and industry best practices to limit dust, some dust may still be visible. Our team is working closely with TVA and local, state, and federal partners to ensure this work is completed safely and with minimal impact to the community.
As with any large project, weather or other factors could cause delays. We will continue to share updates as we have them. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as TVA completes this important work safely.
