NIGHTLY US 127 RESURFACING PROJECT SET TO BEGIN JULY 12 IN CROSSVILLE
A major road improvement project is scheduled to kick off this month, bringing nighttime lane closures and traffic changes to a busy stretch of US 127 (SR 28/Main Street).
The resurfacing project will span approximately 2.35 miles, stretching from near SR 392 (Miller Avenue) to near US 70N (SR 24/Elmore Road).
To minimize disruptions to local businesses and daytime commuters, the contractor will operate strictly on a night schedule. Work is set to begin Sunday night, July 12, and will take place weekly from Sunday evenings through Saturday mornings. Crews will be active between 7:00 PM and 6:00 AM local time.
Motorists traveling through the work zone during project hours should prepare for:
-
Nighttime lane closures
-
Reduced speed limits
-
Increased presence of highway workers and heavy equipment
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) urges drivers to exercise extreme caution, slow down, and allow extra travel time when navigating the area.
TDOT reminds motorists to practice safe driving habits: “Know Before You Go” by checking traffic conditions prior to your commute, and never text, tweet, or talk on the phone while behind the wheel. Real-time updates are available via the TDOT SmartWay Map or by dialing 511.
