The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially become the fastest-selling home video game console ever, according to multiple news outlets, with 3.5 million units sold in its first four days on the market, following its launch on June 5, 2025. This surpasses the launch sales of the original Switch, PS4, and PS5.

Nintendo’s ample inventory met high demand, driven by pre-order sellouts and tariff concerns, though stock remained available in some regions, minimizing scalping.

Despite a lack of launch titles and a high price point, the Switch 2’s success builds on the original’s 152 million units sold since 2017. Nintendo aims for 15 million Switch 2 sales by March 2026, but sustaining momentum amid tariffs and competition remains a challenge.

In the UK, it ranks as the fourth best-selling console launch.
