Norman Lee Benson, 63

Norman Lee Benson, born November 21, 1961, in Plant City, FL, passed away recently on March 29, 2025. Norman resided in Crossville, Tennessee and was a machinist by trade. Norman’s heart was always at home, outdoors, where he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, hunting, and fishing. His passions were simple yet profound, mirroring the words of Henry David Thoreau, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately.” His life was rich with the love for his wife, Bert, and the joy he derived from the simplicity of nature. Norman is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Bertha “Bert” Benson, and his mother, Martha Benson. He also leaves behind two brothers, Cecil (Tonya) Benson and Daniel (Darlene) Benson, along with his nieces, Brittney Benson, Caitlyn Benson, and Hannah (Jon) Matthews. His great-nephew, Hayden Matthews, and great-nieces, Blakely and Brynlee Matthews, will remember their great-uncle fondly. Norman also held a special place in his heart for his friends, Barbara (Steven) Miller and Elizabeth and Olivia Roach. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Benson. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 5:00 pm CDT at the Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., located at 2653 N. Main St., Crossville, Tennessee. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 7:00 pm CDT. As Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Norman certainly left a memorable imprint on all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
