NOT THE BRIGHTEST BULBS… TWO CHARGED IN THEFT FROM INVESTIGATOR’S HOME

If you’re going to steal items from a residence, make sure it’s not a law-enforcement officer’s home.

That was the case for two individuals who tried to steal a four wheeler and other items from a Kingston Police Department investigator’s home in Rockwood Thursday morning.

According to  Rockwood Police Chief Bill Stinnett, Jamie Melton, who works as a Kingston Police investigator, noticed two men pulling a trailer away from his residence with a four wheeler on it. He called 911. Rockwood PD pulled the vehicle over at the U.S. Bank parking lot on Gateway just after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Arrested were 40-year-old Shawn Edward Ridener, and 31-year-old Michael Shawn Walker. The arrest report states Walker also had illegal drugs on him when he was booked into the Roane County jail. His charges include introduction of contraband into a penal institution, criminal trespassing, aggravated burglary, theft of property up to $10,000, driving on a revoked license, possession of burglary tools, vandalism up to $500 and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ridener was charged with criminal impersonation, criminal trespass, aggravated burglary, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, manufacture, sale, delivery or possession of meth, theft of property up to $10,000, possession of burglary tools and vandalism.

Both remain in jail today, awaiting court appearances.
