OAK RIDGE PD MOURNS LOSS OF BARRY BUNCH

From the Oak Ridge Police Department’s Facebook page:
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sergeant Barry Bunch, who lost his courageous battle with cancer.
Sergeant Bunch has served our Oak Ridge community since 1993. He began as a seasonal employee in the Recreation and Parks Department before transitioning to the Oak Ridge Pollice Department in 1994; Sergeant Bunch served with tremendous dedication, holding specialized roles including an originating K9 Officer, SWAT member, training instructor, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2019. As a Sergeant, he supervised patrol teams and, most recently, the Police Department’s school resource officers.
Throughout his distinguished career, Sergeant Bunch exemplified kindness and commitment, always putting others first and positively impacting every role he held. We will never forget his leadership, compassion, and devotion to our community.
During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers. Sergeant Bunch’s legacy of service, strength, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him.
We will take it from here, Sergeant Bunch. Thank you for your service.
A memorial is set up and growing at the front of the Police Department for Sgt. Barry Bunch, who passed away yesterday from his hard fought battle with cancer.
