OAK RIDGE WOMAN FACES TERRORISM CHARGE AFTER THREATENING ANIMAL SHELTER

In Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 65-year-old Kathryn Watson faces a terrorism charge following an incident on August 16, 2025, at the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter, a no-kill facility operated by the city.
According to court records, Watson allegedly drove into the shelter’s parking lot, nearly hitting a dog, and threatened to bomb the shelter and kill its employees, whom she called “butchers” due to her mistaken belief that the shelter euthanized animals. A witness reported that Watson threatened to “blow their brains out” and stated, “They need to blow this place up.”
The incident prompted a police response at 5:55 p.m., leading to Watson’s arrest and charge for the commission of an act of terrorism.
