ONE DEAD, CHILD INJURED IN FIVE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON I-40 IN PUTNAM CO.
A five-vehicle accident on I-40 in Putnam County last night left one dead and a child injured. The Tennessee Highway Patrol say a 2018 Ford F-150 driven by 37-year-old Michael Silvey of Cookeville was traveling west in the eastbound lanes in the Cookeville city limits. Troopers state a vehicle driven by 21-year-old Caleb Green of Crossville took evasive action from Silvey’s oncoming truck but collided with it. Silvey then hit a tractor trailer operated by 62-year-old Daniel Laquart of Murfreesboro head on. Silvey’s truck was hit one more time by a 2013 Ford Taurus driven by 55-year-old William Monday, of Crossville, before coming to a final rest in the middle of the interstate. Silvey was killed in the crash and an 8-year-old in his truck was injured. The multi-crash left traffic locked up for hours last night as the Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the accident. Seven others involved in the incident escaped injury.
