ONE FATALITY AFTER PUTNAM AMBULANCE STRIKES MOTORCYCLIST

Yesterday at 10:20 a.m., a tragic accident occurred on Willow Avenue in Cookeville, Tennessee, involving a Putnam County Ambulance and a motorcycle. The ambulance, which was transporting a patient in a non-emergency capacity without active sirens or lights, failed to yield the right of way while making a turn, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report.
This resulted in a collision with an oncoming motorcycle, which struck the right rear end of the ambulance. The motorcyclist was fatally injured, while the ambulance crew and the patient onboard sustained minor injuries and were treated at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation, with no charges filed as of yet.
