Opal Maden, age 94, of Harriman, passed away April 28, 2021 at her home. She was born in Morgan County, after High School she attended Knoxville Business College and worked for several years at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the South Harriman Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 70 years. She also worked at South Harriman High School as Secretary for Mr. Ladd, later she was Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools. Later she was a counselor at Vocational Re-Hab in Harriman where she retired from. Opal also owned The Sewing Basket in Harriman and Wartburg. Opal was well known for her chicken & dumplings. She enjoyed her grandchildren, she enjoyed sewing for her daughter and grandchildren and cooking for friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harvey and Maggie Pearson; husband: Everett Maden; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her children: Randy (Debbi) Maden of Lakeland, Florida and Sherri (Smokes) Wyrick of Rockwood; grandchildren: Cody & Kali Maden of Lakeland, Florida, Wesley & wife Melinda Wyrick & children, Rhett & Anabella all of Murfreesboro, and Dylan & wife Charm Wyrick, of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 2, 2021 from 3 until 5 p.m. eastern at South Harriman Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow. Graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. eastern at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood. Schubert Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
