OVER 110 CRASHES IN EAST TENNESSEE OVERNIGHT
The Tennessee Department of Transportation said they saw over 110 crashes since last night due to the winter storm creating extremely hazardous driving conditions.
According to TDOT’s Mark Nagi, drivers will see patches of snow and ice on many major roads over the next few days, and people need to understand that. He also said his Department pretreated state roads, but problems will occur over the next few days due to the cold temperatures.
Also, refreezing will undo much of the work that TDOT crews have been doing on the roads, so citizens should always stay alert.
So far there have been 382 calls, 140 motor assists, 51 crashes with no injury, 21 abandoned vehicles, 12 crashes with injuries, three roadway obstructions, and one disabled vehicle.
