OVER $2,700 WORTH OF DAMAGE DONE TO HOUSE’S ELECTRIC METER IN VANDALISM

On Monday, Deputies were dispatched to Coal Hallow Tip Street for a vandalism report. Deputy Michael Winebarger contacted the
Volunteer Electric Company worker on the scene, and he said someone had broken the electric meter and meter box attached to the residence. An overall value of $2,730 worth of damage.

VEC advised that the electricity was still on and that they had to turn it off to prevent a fire inside the residence. On the front porch, the deputy noticed electrical components of the electric meter identified by the VEC worker. Attached to the house was the electric meter box that appeared to have been pried open, and inside were more components of the electric meter.

The VEC worker advised that the inside of the electric meter box had been damaged as well and needed to be replaced before any electricity could be turned back on. Around the residence were footprints in the snow.

The owner of the property said no one was currently living at that location and that he still owned the property. He had cameras but was unable to access them due to the electricity being out at that residence. He told the deputy he would send any video evidence when he had access to the cameras.

Currently, there are no suspects, and no charges filed.
