PASSENGER CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II DRUGS AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

Friday afternoon, Cumberland County deputies stopped a vehicle on Highway 70 West going 64 mph in a 55-mph zone.

The driver, who did not have a valid driver’s license, admitted he had marijuana in his possession and turned over a small jar with approximately 3.3 grams of pot. He was cited for simple possession.

Deputies noticed an abnormally sized bulge on the front of the passenger’s left pant leg. The passenger, 27-year-old Bethany Terra Hughes of Crossville, was concealing a pill container with 2.5 grams of meth. Hughes was charged with possession of a Schedule II drug and placed under $5,000 bond. She’s due in general sessions court March 25.
