PASTA SOLD AT WALMART AND MORE RECALLED FOR LISTERIA; 4 DEAD, 19 HOSPITALIZED

A listeria outbreak linked to recalled ready-to-eat pasta products sold at Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, and Albertsons has resulted in four deaths and 19 hospitalizations across 15 states, with 20 confirmed cases of listeria poisoning as of September 30, 2025, according to the CDC and FDA.
The outbreak, first identified in June, has affected states including California, Texas, and Utah, with fatalities reported in Illinois, Michigan, Texas, and Utah, and one case involving fetal loss due to infection. The recalled products, including Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce at Walmart, Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Blackened Chicken Breast Fettuccine Alfredo, and various pasta salads at Kroger and Albertsons, were sold nationwide with specific best-by dates and establishment numbers.
The CDC notes that the reported cases likely do not reflect the full extent of the outbreak. Consumers are advised to return or discard the affected products and sanitize any surfaces or containers that may have been contaminated, while thoroughly washing hands after handling food.
