Vaughn – Paul E. Doan Sr. 86 of Spring City died Friday June 13, 2025 in Dayton, Tennessee.

He was born in Harlan County, Kentucky on October 22, 1938 to the late William “Bill” and Bertha Stines Doan. Paul graduated from high school in Harland, Kentucky and worked at various jobs in his career including the Norfolk Southern Railroad from which he retired. He and his wife Betty and their son Paul Jr. moved to Spring City in 1973 where they owned and operated The Hickory House Restaurant in Wolf Creek for many years. Paul enjoyed music, both playing the guitar and singing. He was a member of the Texas Grove Baptist Church.

Paul was preceded in death by his grandson Daniel Doan, his sisters Ada King and Edith “Bokie” King and his brother Arthur Doan.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years Betty H. Doan of Spring City and his son Paul (Teresa) Doan Jr of Spring City, one grandson Joseph Doan of Blandford, Mass. and four great grandchildren.

Paul was buried in a private graveside service on Sunday June 15, 2025 at the Spring City Memorial Gardens.
