Peggy Lorraine Porter Cunningham, 73

Peggy Lorraine Porter Cunningham, age 73 passed away at Parkwest Medical Center on May 4, 2026.  Born on April 22, 1953, she was the third daughter of the late Bill and Leona Barger Porter.  She grew up in the Wolf Creek community and attended Wolf Creek Baptist Church. A graduate of Spring City High School “Class of 1971”, Peggy also attended business school in Knoxville and held various positions over her working career.   In her younger years, she enjoyed working for the Dayton Chamber of Commerce and being part of the Dayton Jaycees.  She was an avid golfer and often enjoyed time with her sisters at the Dayton Golf and Country Club and watching UT football with friends. Peggy loved music, attending many concerts and live music events over the years.  Her favorite memories of traveling and live music were shared with her daughter, Latel.

Peggy’s greatest joy came later in life. She loved nothing more than being “Ahyee” to her grandson, Finn.  She was his biggest cheerleader and was tireless in her most coveted role as grandmother.  No job or ask was too big or too small for Ahyee when it came to Finn. Peggy was one of a kind, and truly enjoyed life’s most important things, spending time with family and friends.  She was unwavering in her love and support of family and friends. Peggy was one of a kind and made lasting impressions on those she met. She kept everyone on their toes with her jokes and stories, which brought much laughter.  Peggy was kind and caring, often going out of her way to make others feel appreciated and loved.  Since her passing, her daughter Latel has learned of many people who loved her Mom, because she took the time to make them feel special.  She leaves her loved ones with many memories of good times, and will be sorely missed.

Peggy was also preceded in death by her brother, “Little Bill” Porter and her sister, Sandra Draughon.
