PERDUE RECALLS THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF CHICKEN NUGGETS
Chicken nugget lovers beware! Georgia-based Perdue Foods has recalled over 68,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with wood chips. The announcement was issued Thursday night by the US Dept. of Agriculture. The Nuggets were sold nationwide.
Three customers alerted Perdue and another alerted the U.S. Food and Inspection Safety Service after finding wood in the nuggets. There are no confirmed reports of illness from the contamination. The Nuggets were produced Oct. 25 and sold in 22-ounce bags labeled “Perdue SimplySmart Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets Gluten Free” with a best-buy date of Oct. 25, 2019, and the UPC bar code 72745-80656. The product subject to recall bears establishment number “P-33944” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The Nuggets should be thrown away or returned to their place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recall can call Perdue at (877) 727-3447.
