PICKETT COUNTY LAUNCHES FIRST SEX OFFENDER COMPLIANCE OPERATION “HAWKEYE”
In Pickett County, Tennessee, members of the Middle Tennessee United States Marshals Service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Sex Offender Registry Unit partnered with the Pickett County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a sex offender compliance operation called “Operation Hawkeye.” This marked the first such operation in the county. During the checks, authorities contacted four locally monitored registered sex offenders, resulting in two being flagged for further investigation due to potential noncompliance.
The operation focused solely on offenders under local monitoring and did not include additional registered sex offenders in the county who are supervised by the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole. Sheriff Dowdy emphasized the importance of the effort, stating that community safety remains the top priority. He noted that operations like “Operation Hawkeye” help ensure registered offenders comply with legal requirements, allowing residents to feel more secure, and expressed appreciation for the valuable partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service and the TBI in carrying out this mission.
