POLICE: POWELL ARRESTED AFTER HIGH SPEED CHASE IN STOLEN TRUCK

Loudon County law enforcement says 47-year-old William Eric Powell of Ten Mile faces several charges following a high speed pursuit on Highway 444. Officers initially responded to a stolen Chevy truck operated by Powell. He reportedly achieved speeds of 90 miles an hour running several cars off the road. Powell got onto Highway 72 and increased his speed to 100 heading toward the Loudon city limit. That is where police were waiting with a spike strip deployed. Powell struck it and crashed. He was arrested for DUI, evading arrest, theft of property, two counts of vehicular assault and three counts of reckless endangerment.
