The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office recently responded to the report of several deceased cattle near 785 Lake Hill Road in Monterey. Authorities said today this is now an active investigation involving possible animal cruelty. Assisting Putnam County Criminal Investigations Unit  with the case includes the Office of the District Attorney, Tennessee Department of Agriculture Criminal Investigations Unit, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and the Tennessee Highway Patrol Critical Incidents Response Team.
