PROPOSED BILL LOOKS TO EXPAND AMBER ALERTS IN TENNESSEE

A proposed bill is looking to expand Amber Alerts in Tennessee.

State Bill 1929/House Bill 2223 was introduced to send more alerts about missing children and is moving forward through the General Assembly.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation wishes to create an Amber+ Alert system to issue alerts concerning certain youth who are reported missing under unexplained or suspicious circumstances, reported missing and at risk of harm, or reported missing and developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired.

The bill is up for discussion by the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow (Tuesday, February 20, 2024). It’s also been assigned to the Criminal Justice Subcommittee.
