PROPOSED BILL WOULD REQUIRE ABORTED FETUSES TO BE CREMATED OR BURIED
Proposed legislation considered by lawmakers in Tennessee would require aborted fetuses to be either cremated or buried. The sponsor of the bill, State Representative Tim Rudd of Murfreesboro, said he’s trying to create a process to treat aborted fetuses with dignity. It passed through a state house subcommittee yesterday. It states a woman having the abortion or the healthcare facility performing the abortion would be responsible for paying for the process.
Representatives from Planned Parenthood said they strongly opposed the measure saying it is meant to cause shame for women seeking an abortion.
The bill will now be considered by a full health committee.
