PROPOSED BILLS UNDER CONSIDERATION BY TENNESSEE LAWMAKERS

A proposed bill in Tennessee, if approved, would remove the ban on the sale of alcohol on certain holidays. House Bill 0371 states taking away the prohibition on retail sales of alcoholic beverages and wine on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter. If granted, the act would take effect upon signing into law.

Another would allow law enforcement officers to carry guns in areas that are currently prohibited. If accepted, House Bill 0477 would allow officers to be armed in certain locations including parks and other similar places that are not currently allowed regardless of whether they are on or off duty.
