PUTNAM COUNTY MAN ARRESTED AFTER PURSUIT
On March 30, 2023, Putnam County Sheriff Deputies attempted to serve active arrest warrants on Zachery Kurpieski at 1300 N. Dixie Avenue in Cookeville. Kurpieski evaded the Deputies by fleeing in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Later in the evening, Kurpieski was seen by Lt. Josh Reams of the PCSO Warrants Division, however; he was unable to take him into custody.
The next day, on March 31, 2023, Kurpieski’s vehicle was unattended but located on Bunker Hill Road by Sgt. Josh Hull. Video surveillance was obtained that showed Kurpieski leaving the area in a Ford Ranger with a second individual.
On June 3, 2023, White County Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on White Oak Flatt Road close to the White County/Putnam County line to which Kurpieski was identified but quickly fled the scene on foot, escaping White County Deputies. During this incident PCSO Deputies responded and quickly began tracking Kurpieski with PCSO K9 Scooter. While tracking Kurpieski, Deputies were able to locate and identify stolen property that had been reported in Putnam County days earlier.
Later in the evening Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting Kurpieski being seen outside of a residence on White Oak Flat Road, the same area that Kurpieski had eluded Deputies earlier in the day. Deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office responded and were able to take Kurpieski into custody. Kurpieski was found to be in possession of a small amount of what appeared to be Methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Farris stated, “I am extremely pleased with the effort, dedication, and persistence that our Deputies put in to getting Kurpieski arrested and in custody.’
Kurpieski was arrested and charged with Violation of Probation, Aggravated Kidnapping, Evading Arrest, Simple Possession, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Kurpieski has a bond of $59,000 and a court date of 6/12/2023.
