PUTNAM COUNTY MAN FACING YEARS IN PRISON AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO DOMESTIC AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT CHARGES

A Putnam County man faces a potential multi-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to multiple assault charges in Criminal Court today, June 25, 2026.

Dante Edmonds entered guilty pleas for three separate charges involving two different victims. The charges include one count of Aggravated Assault and two counts of Domestic Assault.

According to court details, the Aggravated Assault charge—a Class C Felony—stems from an incident where Edmonds caused serious bodily injury to a female victim, resulting in a broken nose and a concussion. The remaining two Domestic Assault charges are classified as Class A misdemeanors.

Following the entry of the guilty pleas, Judge Fry ordered the Department of Corrections to prepare a comprehensive pre-sentence report.

The case is scheduled to return to the court docket on July 23, at which point a formal sentencing hearing date will be set. During that upcoming hearing, the judge will hear proof and arguments from both sides before determining Edmonds’ final punishment.

Edmonds faces significant prison time for the offenses. The Class C felony carries a potential penalty of 3 to 6 years in prison, while each Class A misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of up to 11 months and 29 days.
