TBI INVESTIGATING PUTNAM COUNTY TEACHER FOR INAPPROPRIATE COMMUNICATION WITH STUDENT

On April 19, 2023, Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris confirmed that there is an open and active investigation of a former Putnam County teacher. A school official notified Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in late March of a possible inappropriate communication between a student and a teacher. The Sheriff’s Investigator soon learned that the teacher in question had abruptly resigned just before spring break in early March. Officials hope to have some resolution in the case within the next 90 days depending on the results of possible evidence that has been submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab.
