PUTNAM DEPUTY ARRESTED FOR DUI ACCIDENT
On June 2, 2026, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol that Deputy Chase Carter was involved in a single-car accident in Jackson County while driving his personal vehicle under the influence.
Deputy Carter was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, after which he was placed on leave by the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Farris expressed gratitude that no one was harmed in the incident but voiced sadness over Deputy Carter’s actions, noting his contributions to the department as both a Corrections Deputy (starting May 12, 2023) and a Patrol Deputy (since May 2, 2025).
