PUTNAM FIRE DEPARTMENT RESCUES DOG FROM HOUSE FIRE

Putnam County, TN —At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, the Putnam County Fire
Department was dispatched to the 4000 block of West Broad Street for a reported residential structure fire.
The first arriving unit was on scene within four minutes and found a single-story residence with active
flames visible from a front window. Firefighters initiated a quick, aggressive attack and were able to knock
down the fire within minutes, successfully containing the majority of the fire damage to a single room of the
home.
During the incident, a dog was located inside the residence and safely removed. Firefighters and EMS
administered oxygen to the animal, which is expected to make a full recovery.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries during operations. Baxter Fire Department responded to the scene in
accordance with the automatic mutual aid agreement.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
