PUTNAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND TO VEHICLE FIRE ON SWAFFORD ROAD
Last night around 7:45 p.m. on February 6, Putnam County Fire crews were dispatched to the 5000 block of Swafford Road for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, the first engine found a passenger vehicle heavily engulfed in flames, parked directly beside a residence, with the fire already beginning to impinge on the structure and causing soffit material to melt from the intense heat.
Out of caution, firefighters requested an upgrade to a full residential fire response. They quickly initiated an aggressive attack and achieved knockdown of the flames within minutes. Subsequent investigation confirmed that the crews successfully prevented the fire from spreading into the home, resulting in only minor heat-related damage to the siding, while the vehicle itself was declared a total loss.
