Reba “Joanne” Houston Matheny, 83, of Crossville, TN, passed from this world on December 5, 2025. Joanne was born on May 15, 1942 to Gordon and Kathleen Storie Hyder in Cleveland, OH. She loved her family at Lantana Church of Christ where she was a life long member. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her whole world. She loved cooking lunch on Sundays and having all of the family there to eat. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Houston, and her second husband, Elvis Matheny, her father, Gordon Hyder, mother, Kathleen Hyder, and her brother, William Shuburg. Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Wilma Hager (Dorris), her children, Gordon Houston (Sandy), Scott Houston (Carlotta), Lisa Wood (Lowell), Laura Simmons (Sammy Ray), her step-son, David Matheny (Diane), her nine grandchildren, Terri Green (Dwayne), Joshua Houston, Jolyn Houston, Jacob Houston, Thomas Houston, Gage Houston, Tyler Wood (Megan), Nikole Iles (KC), Joshua Simmons, thirteen great-grandchildren, and her niece Kathryn Shuburg Saltkill (Kevin and daughter Kassie). She will be deeply missed by all.
