RECORD COLD ANNIVERSARY

Partly cloudy skies in the forecast for Friday with highs in the upper 40s. Friday night is looking clear with a low near 25. Saturday kicks off your weekend in fine fashion with sunny and mid to Upper 40s. The weather pattern goes downhill on Sunday with a chance of showers in the afternoon and Rain likely Sunday night and Monday with thunderstorms possible. It is going to be very mild with temperatures possibly getting above 60° on Monday. There is no Arctic air inside for the remainder of January for our area but we still expect several doses of really rough winter weather in February.

Thursday marked the 36th anniversary of the most severe cold wave in Tennessee History. The temperature dropped to 25 below zero in Cumberland County, 27 Below in Jamestown, 22 Below in Cookeville and Sparta, Knoxville came in at 24 below, even as far south as Shelbyville it was 20 below. This cold wave also affected the entire Southeast with Atlanta at minus 8, Jacksonville Florida 7 above and Miami 34
