REHABILITATION HOSPITAL COMING TO KNOXVILLE IN 2021
On the heels of Brookhaven Retreat’s closure earlier this week, three local healthcare providers have announced plans to team up on a rehabilitation facility in Knoxville.
Tennova Healthcare, the University of Tennessee Medical Center and Kindred Healthcare made the announcement this morning. In a joint venture, the three will build and run a 57-bed rehab hospital. Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital will be built on land Tennova owns near Middlebrook Pike and Old Weisgarber Road.
The hospital will be able to treat patients suffering from stroke, spinal-cord and brain injuries, complex or profound orthopedic conditions, neurological conditions and major multiple trauma. Patients will be accepted from Knox County and 10 surrounding counties.
When Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital opens, Tennova will cease operations at its 18-bed Andersonville Pike location.
The partners anticipate opening the facility in early 2021, pending regulatory and other approvals.
