RESURFACING CAUSING SIGNIFICANT CONGESTION ON I-40

In Roane County, ongoing resurfacing work on Interstate 40 Eastbound and Westbound, starting near Mile Marker 356 and extending to Mile Marker 363, is causing significant traffic disruptions, with congestion reported extending past Exit 356A. The project, which began on May 27, 2025, involves nightly lane closures from Sunday through Thursday nights and is expected to continue through the summer.
Specifically, the right lane and right shoulder of both eastbound and westbound directions are blocked during these closures, reducing each direction to a single lane. An additional phase of the resurfacing work is scheduled to start on August 19, 2025, continuing to impact the right lane and shoulder in both directions.
This construction has led to substantial delays.
