REWARD GOES UP TO $100,000 FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO ARREST OF MURDER SUSPECT

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office increased the reward yesterday for information leading to Kenneth DeHart’s arrest to $100,000.

Deputy Greg McCowan was shot and killed last Thursday night during a traffic stop in the 4900 block of Sevierville Road. A second deputy, Shelby Eggers, was also shot in the leg and returned fire. She was treated at a hospital and has been released.

DeHart is charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

He has been added to the TBI 10 Most Wanted list.
